Kinloch Rannoch

At the end of last month, A & I took a little road trip up to Kinloch Rannoch to visit Daddy on his birthday.

Now I knew the place was remote, but by the time I had came off the A9 and been driving along the windiest, narrowest road in the world for about an hour I was kinda losing hope that we would ever see civilisation again. Which wasn't helped by the small pit stop we had to make to clean up Ava's sick. Bless that baby standing at the side of the road in just her nappy when it was about 7 degrees outside. The car has only just stopped smelling of puke.

Eventually we hit Kinloch Rannoch. A teeny little village comprising of  a few houses, a single shop, a cute tearoom, a grand old MacDonald hotel and a seriously kick ass loch. The next two nights were pretty awesome and we can't wait to go back.

There's something about that level of remoteness that's just so freeing. Nothing to do, nothing to spend your money on. Not a Topshop or Starbucks in sight. To some hell. To me?

Bliss.

The amazing view from pretty much everywhere in the village/Having some much needed down time/Flowers and fruit delivered to our room from housekeeping/Daddy opening his birthday gifts

Celebrating his birthday in style/Only second time I've plucked up the courage to wear a bikini since A was born. Ridiculous right?/Not that it mattered as I had the entire pool to myself

Amazing meal in the bar on the first night/Even more amazing meal in the restaurant on the second/We visited the cutest tea shop ever (and ate a lot of cake)

Kinloch Rannoch is the most picturesque village/Toasting a great couple of nights with a stop off at the Perth Frankie & Bennie's on the way home
