I'm not sure if any of you guys have noticed but it's been getting pretty cold of late. I mean I am seriously just waiting on the snow coming now. For some reason I am never appropriately dressed. I find myself running about in tiny ballet pumps in the pouring rain with feet that no longer have any feeling in them. Or shivering ridiculously in some thin cardigan while I look around and everyone is dressed cosily in thick jumpers and coats from the likes of Woolovers. Alternatively I find myself my in Pizza Express (like I did last night), in a jumper and cosy boots, thinking that the extra chilli I just poured over my already fiery pizza might tip my over-dressed and roasting body over the edge. But I do love winter. And I am a blogger. So it would be sacrilege not to list all the things I adore so much about these cold snowy months....
- Cosy pubs with coal fires. There is nothing lovelier than going for a brisk walk on a cold winters day and then stumbling upon some ye olde type drinking establishment. Settling down by the fire and warming those frost stung cheeks with a nice hot cider. Just be careful you don't lose track of time....
- Snow angels. Mainly 3 year old sized ones. And then hot chocolate with lashings of skooshy cream. Don't tell anyone but I have been known just to sit with that can and just keep re-skooshing. Trying hard not to think about all those calories.
- Candles, candles, candles. Tealights in jamjars. Christmas scented smells. Vanilla ones for my bubble baths. I know, I know. I am nothing if not a cliche.
- Cashmere. Beautiful soft cashmere. Be it a blanket or these gorgeous little cardigans. The feel of that stuff on my bare skin is second to none.
- For someone who hates being cold (and wet) I kinda do love the snow. But only the aesthetics of it. I'd rather be the one watching the snow angel making from the window and warming up the hot chocolate if I'm really honest...
- Hot water bottles. And goose feather duvets. And padding down the hall in the morning all nice and toasty despite the morning frost thanks to the wonders of central heating.
- Pimping up those lattes. Gingerbread, cinnamon, hazelnut. Those iced lattes I hold so dear to my heart are officially over for another year.
- The possibility of school being cancelled. Or work. Whatever. I am a child.
- Brushed cotton PJ's, fluffy socks or onesies. Because what's not to love about feeling THAT cosy?
- Low slung berets or beanies pulled down until you can barely see. I would be lying if I said I was a fan of the hat hair though.
- It wouldn't be a Dawniepopsies post without food getting brought into the mix at some point. But that slow cooker of mine barely gets put away come this time of year. I am churning out soups by the batch and stockpiling casserole recipes. Oh and we can say goodbye to salad. Because it's buttery mash and rustic crusty bread now from here on in. And don't even talk to me about roasted cheese dunked in one of those soups when the snow is falling outside....
- And I think we would all be lying if we didn't agree there was something completely hilarious about watching people taking a tumble on the pavements that turn into ice rinks at this time of year. Old people, children and serious injuries being the exception, watching a full grown man land straight on his ass on his way to work is kinda funny. Sorry.
Thanks to Woolovers Knitwear UK for collaborating with Dawniepopsies on this post.

I love winter, in that the comfort and the excuse for doing very little other than lying under a duvet is great... But I hate being cold. I am currently wandering around town looking like the Michelin man...
Usually I keep squeezing the squeezy cream into the hot chocolate and then pour out the hot chocolate at the end...
May as well just cut out the middle man.
Plus Christmas ...
